Wireless routers transmit network data via radio waves. The wireless network interface controller or wireless local area network (WLAN) card inside a Toshiba laptop detects incoming radio signals within range using built-in antennas. Turning off wireless communication on the laptop will prevent the computer from connecting to Wi-Fi networks. You can quickly re-enable the WLAN device within Windows.
Step 1
Click 'Start | All Programs | TOSHIBA | Utilities | HWSetup.' Click 'LAN.'
Step 2
Select 'On' from the Wireless Communication Switch section. Click 'OK.' Restart the laptop if prompted.
Hold down 'Fn' to activate the Toshiba Flash Cards, and then press 'F8' twice to enable the wireless radio on your laptop.

Radio On Off Wifi Network
In the digital age, the internet has opened a lot of doors when it comes to making previously inaccessible things suddenly accessible. People are instantly connected through email, social networks, instant messaging services, and online forums. If the internet connects people and services from all over the world in a fraction of the time it would ordinarily take through conventional means, then why shouldn't access to music and radio offer the same convenience?
Imagine living in a rural area with poor reception from local radio stations. How would you overcome this obstacle? Or perhaps you're interested in accessing a particular genre/radio station that you could only pick up in Moscow or Sydney, Australia. It's more likely that your conventional FM radio device wouldn't be able to pick up that radio station in either location. With a WiFi radio, all this can change when those locations provide access to their media over the internet.
Also known as an internet radio, a WiFi radio is a hardware device capable of receiving and playing streamed audio content from either an internet radio station or a home network. This audio content can take the form of podcasts, music, or news stations. Streaming media has the advantage of delivery to your device as it's being downloaded, meaning that you can start listening to the content before it has finished downloading completely. This saves you from having to wait to download an entire audio file from the internet before listening to it.
Regardless of the device used, audio streaming is delivered to its receiver using lossy compression and several audio formats that include MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Windows Media Audio, and RealAudio. An audio codec is also used to decode the streaming content so you can enjoy it through the radio's speakers.
Setting WiFi radio apart from conventional radio is its ability to broadcast content from virtually anywhere in the world using an internet connection. WiFi radios usually have built-in speakers, making them self-contained devices. With a stable internet connection, there is virtually no geographical limitation for station access, whereas you would be limited to a range of around 100 miles using a conventional AM-FM radio.
A WiFi radio downloads a selected audio stream from one of several services that are compatible with the device. Some of these services include Pandora, Last.fm, and Spotify.
It all started with me noticing that my internet pages loaded slower and slower to the point where it now takes minutes to open a single page. For some reason though, Facebook is still working, even though it's logging on and off. The problem occurs when I am using my wireless network, it has been working fine for 4 months before this started happening. It looks like my wireless card is doing fine, there are not malware, virus or registry errors. I can now see that I am connected to the net all the time it just looses connection for the fraction of a second and then goes back on. It looks like the connection should be fast as well, but it's slow. I have measured it on speedometers etc. When I plug in the Ethernet there is no problem and everything works fine. The problem is most noticeable in browsers, but also affects general use of the Internet of course. I have tried so many things now, that I might have forgotten to add some of it here, if so, I am sorry. But help! What is this?? It just keeps getting worse and worse! Thank God that the Ethernet works!
Best regards and a good Sunday to you all

Dell laptops, such as the XPS, Inspiron and Latitude, enable you to access the Internet from any location with an available Wi-Fi signal. To connect to the Internet, you need to enable your laptop's wireless radio. By default, the wireless radio is turned off for security purposes and to save battery power. You can turn on the wireless radio using one of several methods, depending on your laptop's model.
Step 1
Power on your laptop, then press the wireless function key located on the top row of the keyboard. This key looks like a radio tower. An icon appears on the computer screen indicating that Wi-Fi is enabled. Tap the key again to turn the radio off. When you've disabled the radio, a circle with a line through it appears next to the radio tower icon. Most new Dell laptops have this function key, including the XPS and Latitude.
Step 2
Look for a sliding switch on the side of your laptop if you can't find a dedicated wireless key. Slide the switch toward the icon of a transmitting radio tower to activate wireless.
Step 3
Hold down the 'FN' key, then press 'F2' to turn on and off the radio in most Dell laptop models, such as the N4100/14R and N7110/17R models.
Right-click the utility icon in the notification area, then select 'Open Utility.' Click the 'Wireless Networks' tab, then check the 'Enable Radio' box. Clear the box to disable the radio.
Tip
- If you don't see the utility icon, open the computer's Control Panel, then click 'Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility.' Select 'Let this tool manage your wireless networks.'
